Tiro al Blanco is an innovative project established in the D.O. Ribeiro, Galicia, by acclaimed Argentine winemaker Matías Michelini, in partnership with local Galician viticulturist Alex González. Launched in 2017, this collaboration represents Michelini’s fascination with the unpredictable nature of the Ribeiro region—marked by extreme weather conditions—and his desire to explore its potential for producing exceptional wines. With roots in Mendoza, Argentina, where Matías and his brothers are renowned for their groundbreaking winemaking ventures, Tiro al Blanco is a reflection of Matías’ passion for creating high-quality, terroir-driven wines in various regions.
Focusing on a Burgundian model, Tiro al Blanco produces both village and vineyard-specific wines, such as their flagship Castes Blancas, a blend of native white varieties including Albariño, Godello, and Loureiro, grown on granitic soils. The wines are celebrated for their intense minerality, zesty acidity, and elegance.
