Rhys has sought out and developed vineyards in wonderfully unique and expressive mountain sites- 6 in the Santa Cruz Mountains and one in the Anderson Valley AVA. Believing that real wine quality is produced in the vineyard, not the winery, Rhys employs a viticultural approach based on organic and Biodynamic farming methods. Extensive and ongoing clone and rootstock trials lead Rhys to best express the diverse geologies and sense of place intrinsic of these virgin mountain sites. No expense is spared in cultivating vibrant and biologically diverse ecosystems in and around each vineyard.
