Rioja Alta-Mencos is entirely single village, single estate Rioja Alta, owned by the Manso de Zuñiga family whose origins date back to the Visigoths. Ignigo, who is the descendent of one of the oldest wine families in Rioja, makes the wines under Conde de Hervias and Mencos labels. Iñigo released Mencos as a second label to compliment his flagship Conde de Hervías, which is only produced from a single vineyard planted in 1864 and only made in the best vintages. The philosophy behind Mencos is to produce classic Riojas with a gentle hand, at an exceptional value.
