Ribera del Duero- The Family Rivera Aparicio has been growing grapes and making wine in Pesquera de Duero for over 80 years. In 2004 the current generation of Epifanio, Borja and Santi, built a new facility with modern equipment and the space necessary to produce high quality wines commercially. The story is as compelling as the story of the Hermanos Fernandez Gomez in la Rioja. It is a story with a sense of tradition, sacrifice, and ambition to make outstanding wines from these stressful grape growing terrains. The Rivera Aparicio family owns around 24 hectares of great vineyards located in one of the best terroirs in Ribera del Duero, the south facing slopes located on the west part of Pesquera de Duero. Pesquera de Duero is surrounded by some of the most famous towns and successful wineries such as Penafiel (Alion), Valbuena de Duero (Vega-Sicilia, Pingus). It is no surprise to learn that two generations of the Rivera Aparicio family have been selling grapes to Vega-Sicilia and they still do.
