Located in the heart of the Chinon appellation, Philippe Brocourt tends 32 hectares of vines spread over 5 villages: Chinon, Ligré, Rivière, La Roche Clermault and Beaumont en Veron. Philippe took over the estate (formerly called Domaine des Clos Godeaux and still represented on certain bottlings) from his father in 1986. The vineyard stands on gravel plains, clay-siliceous ridges and clay-limestone slopes, farmed using sustainable viticulture methods.

The Chinon “Les Maupas” is vinified in stainless steel tanks with ambient yeasts and aged on fine lees to reflect the fruit-forward aspects of Cabernet Franc. Philippe also produces richer bottlings from older vines such as “Les Vieilles Vignes” from other hillsides of the vineyard.  The denser and more structured wines from clay and limestone plateaux and hillsides mature in oak barrels and casks. Aging takes place in tufa cellars.
