The Romano family has had a passion for viticulture for generations. The 4 hectare estate was established in 1994 in Araniello, a small district of the commune of Tufo in Irpinia. Here, 550 meters above sea level, the climate is dry and airy and the soil is mainly calcareous-clay. These conditions together with a wide day-night temperature range produce what is certainly one of the finest expressions of the Fiano grape variety to be found.

Colli di Lapio is a practicing organic estate. Integrated insect and disease control is followed and only copper and sulfur-based products are used. The estate fertilizes with organic manure every two years to ensure a quality harvest. Alfalfa is sown between the rows of vines to provide nitrogen to the soil and then tilled in as green manure. Minimal sulfur is added to the wines as they leave the winery to ensure freshness and quality.
