Easily recognizable as the most important producer of Greco di Tufo, Benito Ferrara’s origin story dates back to the 1880’s. Nunziante Ferrara, the great-grandfather of the current steward of the property, Gabriella, first planted vineyards in San Paolo in the 1880s. He used to bring vegetables and wine on foot and with a donkey to the town of Tufo. Nunziante’s grandson Benito decided to focus on producing high-quality wine, and in 1991, the first label of the estate was born. Now the fourth generation of the Ferrara family, Gabriella Ferrara and husband Sergio guide the operations. They have 12.5 hectares under vine at 450-600 meters above sea level. The soil is rich in sulfur, volcanic soil, tuff and other minerals.
